I thought this might pick up where the last book left off, but it started in with a new protagonist. That was fine. What wasn't fine is that this whole book was nothing more than the author bashing the Federal Government and beating his audience over the head with his political views... and whether or not I agree with the author's politics is neither here nor there. This is not at all what I expected or wanted when I bought this book. Unfortunately I bought books 2 and 3 based on the strength of book 1. I hope the last book in the trilogy leaves the politics behind and gets back to horror as the subject matter. If not, I won't be reading the last book in the trilogy.Product details

when he talked about his past lives, I would have liked to hear more about them. But all he did was just mention them in passing.
Love the premise a 700 year old werewolf....by one of the BEST authors to ever write a book!
great book
An at first reluctant immortal Werewolf warrior gets involved in what is almost the second USA revolution. (Warning This is not a politically correct book in a lot of ways. But it does make you think about a lot of issues and I do think those issues require thinking.)
Well as a Ben Raines believer, this is a interesting way to bring him alive again I suppose, but it is not Ben. It is a unique story and I am enjoying the second book as much as the first. Mentioning the watchers and their role was also great. Being in the time of Ben, are we going to see a connection, Vlad and Southern States of America, Ben Raines!
I love this first book a lot and adding immortality to the main character as well as there possibly being many more, adds more surprises to the story.
It does beg the question is there going to be more coming, let's hope.
I really like William W. Johnstone's books. Most of them anyway. There are one or two that I didn't care for, but this was not one of those. I liked this one. Another one of those books that you don't really believe in the stuff that goes on in them - shape-changers and living forever?! You have got to be kidding! But, what if..........makes you wonder because the writing was believable.
WWJ has written a novel about a man who was born as an immortal. The species of wolves that change shape, Shape shifters, are north as wolf pups, but soon after birth they assume human form. When the cub is born the wolf family knows there future is safe in the hands of the immortal. The young man eventually lands in the US he serves in every modern war to become the ultimate warrior. This is an excellent read for the genre. I recommend this novel to the people that have an open mind who can see the different points the author has made to the people concerning the future of the US.....ER
